Greetings:

Hi and welcome to the June 2009 issue of 1st Alert.

To begin with, our thanks goes out to all those that took the High Value C0G usage survey. Your responses were very helpful. We have heard from several engineers on the advantages and disadvantages of Film capacitors versus the COG/NP0 type ceramic MLCC.

This time around we have a very quick, one question poll where we would once again value your feedback.

Regarding product news, this month we are making you aware of expansions of values to MLCCs and Tantalum capacitors. Of particular interest may be a 1uF in a 0201 size. As for Tantalums, in our continual mission to expand the existing value range and their associated rated voltages, we are announcing added values in both the Standard and Low ESR types featuring a 220uF, 4V in a B-case (3528). Below you will find the full list of the new offerings.

Thanks for reading.

Remember, engineers make the world go ‘round.

Sincerely,

Nathan Bailey

Quick, One Question Poll

  • We're hoping to get feedback concerning potential usage of a 68uF, 1210 MLCC. Please take one minute to give us your feedback. (THIS POLL IS NOW CLOSED)

Ceramic Chip Capacitors: New Value

Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitors (C Series)

  • 1uF, 0201, X5R, 6.3V, 20%

Tantalum Chip Capacitors: New Values

Standard ESR (TCM Series)

  • 220uF in 4V in B-case (3528)
  • 220uF in 6.3V in C-case (6032)
  • 220uF in 16V in E-case (7343H)
  • 0.33uF in 25V in A-case (3216)
  • 1.0uF in 25V in B-case (3528)

Low ESR (TCR Series)

  • 0.047uF in 25V in A-case (3216)
  • 0.047uF in 35V in B-case (3528)
  • 1.0uF in 20V in A-case (3216)
  • 1.0uF in 35V in C-case (6032)

Correction

  • In the May 2009 issue, we stated that a 0.022uF in a 1206 size MLCC was now available in a 100V DC rating. The correct capacitance value is actually 0.22uF (or 220nF).

Obsolete/Discontinued Parts

  • None at this time.
