Greetings:

Hi and welcome to the July 2010 issue of 1st Alert.

In this month's issue we are discussing two items. The first items deals with lead times. I wanted to make everyone aware that we have recently seen lead times extend out to 16-20 wks for almost all products such as MLCC's with values over 1uF, thick film resistors and RF Inductors. Additionally, Tantalum Capacitors now have lead times that have extended up to 46 wks. Please see below for more details.

Major factors in these longer lead times are increased production of smart phones (chip counts have more than doubled to over 700 pieces per phone), LCD TV's (more than 2,000 passives in each TV) and an increased demand for notebooks and netbooks. Even iPads have contributed to these shortages.

The second item I want to pass along is that we have revised offerings for Palladium-Silver (Pd/Ag) and Gold terminations and are providing an update for sizes and ranges due to recent demand and inquiries we have seen in the industry. Further down the page is the new and updated ranges for your review in case you have an application where these types of terminations may need to be used.
